When you create an account on any platform, you are usually asked to provide personal information and to create a password. This is also the case when you sign up to the Ad Center platforms. Here are some useful tips to create a secure password that you’ll never forget!

Why are passwords so important?

Let’s just say that passwords are the first line of defense for accessing your data: bank accounts, social networks and even your corporate accounts!

Passwords protect your personal information and decrease the risk of hacking and identity theft.

Of course, it’s not a foolproof method, but it provides a basic form of security and makes it more difficult for a malevolent person to access your data.

Best Practices and Key Elements

Like everything, there are good and bad practices. Guidelines vary from platform to platform, but at M32 Connect, we have well-defined criteria.

Here are some elements to consider when creating your next password.

In general, your password must contain:

  • 8 to 64 characters
  • a digit [0-9],
  • a letter [a-z, A-Z],
  • and one of the special characters !@#$%^&*

Please note that you should avoid using the same password repeatedly (it’s not always easy, but that’s why we’re giving you some more tips below!)

Manage Complex Passwords Easily

There are ways to safeguard a multitude of complex passwords. It’s true, but let’s face it, with so many passwords needed these days, our memory can’t keep up, and keeping a document on your computer is not secure enough… We have a suggestion for you!

The best option is a password manager. You just have to memorize one main, highly secure password and it takes care of the rest. Trust us, it will make your life easier, and it is extremely safe.

Here are our top 3 recommendations:

  • 1password: Canadian software offering a free 30-day trial, after which you will have to spend a few dollars a month to use this tool. Read this article on Tom’s Guide to learn more about it.
  • Dashlane : the free version allows you to save up to 50 passwords and has other interesting features.
  • Lastpass : free and premium versions available; this password manager is very user-friendly. Depending on the plan chosen, you can invite people and share passwords: very convenient for businesses.
